In spite of peppering his speech with lots of self-effacing phrases and the regular use of 'sucks', 'shit' and 'crap', Andy Murphy is generally a positive dude with a keen eye and dexterity when it comes to creating stuff.  While by no means limited to this, the springboard for the majority of his current work is the skateboarding world; its peoples, practices and antics all a major force in Andy's motivations for his artworks.  That, coupled with being inspired by  'people who make stupid movies, start bands for fun, people who skate for fun, people who make zines, take photos, do paintings, be individual, grow beards, travel, flash their boobs at cricket matches, people who ride 1974 CB360 Hondas, people who own Valiants and mostly people who are hilarious'.
Such a vaguely pinpoint list of inspirations is reflected in his work, which ranges from drawing, acrylic painting and cake decoration to grip-tape art.
